11. Maybe Too Good

To say the drug use ran rampant at Summer Jam is like saying “Vietnam was messy.” One could scoop up some Jamaican weed for about $15 an ounce. Hits of LSD went for $1 per hit. Compared to beer, which scalped at $3 for a six-pack, it was cheaper to take LSD. “Little, if anything, was done to curb such activities at the concert area,” reported John Wisniewski in the Syracuse Post-Standard. “To do so, said one deputy, would be as fruitful as a mosquito trying to have sex with an elephant.” Drug sellers openly called out their available drugs and carried signs advertising what they had.
