13. Nobody Worked Harder to Entertain Kids

During the ’60s, Wallace and Ladmo won regional Emmy Awards for their efforts, best characterized by another KPHO employee, Pat McMahon. The station had hired him as a meteorologist. McMahon enjoyed watching the show from the sidelines, mostly because he couldn’t believe the commitment of the two stars. “I watched these two guys do hysterically funny satirical material about the show, about the station, about broadcasting in general, about the town, about the mayor,” McMahon recalled according to Trend Chaser. “… I said, ‘I can’t believe this. This is a kids’ show?’”
