13. Nearly Spaceman from Pluto

This is a case where having a powerful executive producer is golden. Remember Sid Sheinberg, the Universal exec with strong opinions about chimpanzees? He also had reservations about the use of the word “future” in the title. Sheinberg suggested they reference the scene where Marty appears as a man from outer space, calling the film “Spaceman from Pluto.” That’s when Steven Speilberg stepped in, thanking the executive for his joke memo, referring to the suggestion as shenanigans. Sheinberg took Speilberg’s gentle cue as his chance to shut up and drop the issue.
