Back to the Future: Secrets and Where They Are Now

16. Even President Ronald Reagan was a Fan

In the movie, when Marty from the future meets Doc Brown from the past, he informs Brown that Ronald Reagan is the president in the ‘80s. In the ‘50s, Reagan was a small time actor. Doc’s response was precious: “Ronald Reagan? The actor? Then who’s vice-president, Jerry Lewis?” Reagan, who watched the movie from the comfort of the White House, liked the scene so much he made the projectionist replay the scene. In his ’86 State of the Union, Reagan finished with a nod: “Never has there been a more exciting time to be alive, a time of rousing wonder and heroic achievement. As they said in the film ‘Back to the Future,’ ‘Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.’”
