9. Education
When we first meet Tony Montana at the beginning of Scarface, he’s living in a temporary refugee camp, set up for Cubans escaping during the 1980 Mariel exodus. We know little of Montana’s education in Cuba, but we can assume he didn’t get his doctorate. He learns on the streets of Miami. One could say the same of Capone but in New York and Chicago instead of Miami. He dropped out of elementary school before the sixth grade. Capone joined the Five Points Gang, and when he was old enough took work as a bouncer at the same bar where he took a knife to the face.
