12. They Almost Replaced Reeves
As studios are wont to do, they kicked around the possibility of pushing on without Reeves. The plan was to shift focus to Clark Kent’s pal, James “Jimmy” Bartholomew, A.K.A. Jimmy Olson. Actor Jack Larson played the role. They would keep Superman, using stock footage and filming new scenes with a double from angles disguising it wasn’t Reeves. Larson found the idea distasteful and refused to be a part of it. Larson went on to have a successful life, working in the business until the end in 2015. Let that be a lesson, kids. Hollywood respects a person with a moral compass. (Just kidding. We all know the Kardashians have no compass.) People liked Larson. That’s why he kept working. As late as 2013, he was still reprising the role of Jimmy Olson.
