10. Larson was–Gasp–Gay
Like many actors of that time, such as Jim Nabors of Mayberry fame, Larson lived with his sexuality in the closet. Hollywood was a more accepting place than the rest of the country at the time, but it was still an issue. One didn’t make his sexuality anyone else’s business. Larson dated another actor, Montgomery Cliff for a time, behind closed doors, of course. But, he eventually met the love of his life, James Bridge, director of movies like The Paper Chase and The China Syndrome. Larson died in 2015 in Los Angeles, at age 87.
