Although printed news outlets have struggled quite a bit in light of the internet, the first hit to that medium came with the dawn of television. Prior to the 1960s, through the Golden Age of TV—the 40s to the 60s—print remained the source for all news. By 1963, news-seekers started to shift away from print. Even today, TV dominates with over half of Americans counting on broadcast news to keep them informed. What remains of print organizations are those which can successfully leverage the internet along with their printed formats. There remain fewer than 5 percent of young adults who read the paper for news anymore.
