1. Moon Landing

Inspired by John F. Kennedy in 1962, getting to the moon was the dream for America to accomplish before the close of the decade. At least, that was the public’s impression. There were plenty of people who’d hoped to get there sooner. With the public pushing for the same goal, to finally beat the Russians in one space goal, on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong took the first steps on the moon. Some 720-million people tuned in to watch humanity’s first walk on another planetoid. The moon landing would suffer some unexpected backlash in the years to come, blamed for raising the bar too high for NASA, and accused of being a fraud. It definitely made subsequent launches from NASA less fantastic, but most intelligent folks don’t buy the faked moon landing theory.
