11. The Beatles

Long before MTV introduced the United States to gobs and gobs of British popular music, the Beatles incited an earlier invasion. They attacked via televised performances. Two years after British audiences suffered the acute symptoms of Beatlemania, The Ed Sullivan Show spread the disorder to Americans. That was in 1964. Suddenly there was more than Elvis going on in the Rock and Roll scene. Americans flocked to the fab four like locusts, contributing to their title as the greatest selling band of all time.
