9. Lifeboat Drill
The day before the iceberg strike, April 14, the crew of Titanic was to run a lifeboat drill. History does not know what happened, why the drill didn’t take place, but many speculate it was part of the whole “unsinkable” mystique of the RMS Titanic. There were not enough lifeboats to save everyone. Putting the unnecessary idea of an emergency in the heads of passengers would only lead to questions. The crew rolled the dice on probability instead. The lifeboats could have saved over half the people, 53.4 percent. As it was, they saved only 31.6 percent.
