11. First Officer William McMaster Murdoch
The first officer of the ship, William McMaster Murdoch, was the man who ordered the ship to turn. That was protocol. There was no way Murdoch could have allowed Titanic to ram the iceberg. There was also no way he could board a lifeboat after that. In the wee hours of April 15, 1912, Murdoch sailed Titanic all the way to the ocean floor.
