The Cam-less Engine
One of the fundamentals of car engines since the invention of the car is the camshaft. It’s what times the little explosions inside each valve, turning the flywheel, making the car go. It’s central to propulsion, but it’s inefficient for modern cars. With the advent of 48 Volt cars, we can replace the work of the camshaft with individual actuators for each valve. Cars will be more efficient, but even quieter without the cam.
