8. Larry Tate’s son Jonathan
The actor who played the character of Larry Tate, Darrin’s boss on the show, was David White. In real life, White had a son named Jonathan, born to him and his deceased wife. She’d passed giving birth to the boy, and White raised the boy alone. As a nod to his real son, he asked that the producers name his onscreen son the same name. This helped make the interactions between White and the boy seem more sincere, as he would think of his own child when playing the role.
7. The Real Jonathan
On December 21, 1988, a Pan Am flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Detroit, Michigan suffered a terrorist attack. A bomb on board exploded over Lockerbie Scotland, killing everyone on board. Jonathan White was on that flight. Or course, David White never got over the incident. Two years after Pan Am Flight 103 crashed, David White died of a heart attack. They buried him next to his son in the famous Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
