Real coconuts were messy
When they filmed the first season, producers tried to go all realistic with the props. Characters drank from real coconuts. There was only one problem – on screen, the coconuts looked terrible. They were messy too. Lucky for them, plastic coconuts played like cleaner versions of the real thing. Problem solved.
