Professor and Mary Ann nearly didn’t make the theme song
The two best-looking characters on the island, the Professor and Mary Ann, were initially treated as extras. In fact, they almost didn’t even get their character’s mentioned in the theme song. Their inclusion was an afterthought. You can tell, though, considering they’re thrown on the end of the first verse, “the Professor and Mary Ann, here on Gilligan’s Isle.”
