The only Ford on this list, it shines at the top (or in this case, the bottom of the blog), selling for $11 million in 2012. What helped catapult this one, at least in part, was because Steve McQueen drove it in the 1971 movie “Le Mans.” Under the hood is a small block V8, but it’s a lightweight car, and the engine cranks 440 horsepower. The color combination, gulf orange and blue, we now consider iconic. It doesn’t hurt that those colors just sold for $11 million: instant icon.
1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione – $11,439,774
The SWB in the name stands for Short Wheel Base, the feature which gives this Ferrari its tight turn radius. A collector donated the car for the benefit of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in the UK. Sold in October 2015, the final sale price, after the conversion was over $11 million, making it one of 26 vehicles to ever sell beyond that mark.
