1955 Ferrari 410 Sport – $23,000,000
By this point, if you haven’t figured out that Ferrari is where it is at in the investment cars business, this 410 Sport won’t help. Yup, chassis no: 0592CM sold for $23 million at Monterey in 2014. There were four of these ever built, a good sign for investment, but this car has not seen one mile of road, other than from the flatbed of a truck, since 2008. It did some reading in the 60s, then underwent a restoration in 1971, thus the cherry look of the exterior.
1956 Ferrari 290 MM – $28,050,000
When it sold at auction in New York in 2015, this was the most expensive sale at public auction that year. This is chassis no. 0626, a 290 MM by Scaglietti. It houses a V12 with triple Weber carbs, in a four-speed manual transmission. This car was the one Ferrari designed to win the World Sportscar Championship. It was once driven by Juan Manuel Fangio at the Mille Miglia Race.
