There have technically been three different generations of the Ford GT now that the latest 2017 version is soon to start delivering customer cars. We firmly believe that Carroll Shelby is turning over in his grave after seeing a twin turbo V6 powering his beloved GT. But that’s for another time. Shelby’s original creation, the GT40, was an obnoxiously loud, snorting and crackling definition of a muscle car. Built from 1964-1969 there were actually a few different variations of the GT40, the MkI, MkII, MkIII, and MkIV. The GT40 was another car that Shelby built with Ford that was meant to be in direct competition with Ferrari.
