#13 Dodge Charger Daytona
Made in 1969, this limited edition, unique looking version of the ever-popular Dodge Charger was known as the Daytona. It was designed and built with one sole purpose: winning at the super speedways of NASCAR. Not only did it go out and win its first race hands down, but the Daytona was the first car in NASCAR history to hit 200mph. One of the most prominent features of the car was its 23-inch stabilizer wing coming off the back of the car. It also had a front nose cone to help with the aerodynamics of the car, but as with most cars of this era the real star was under the hood. That was, of course, the 426 cubic inch Hemi that many believed to produce over 500hp even though it was only rated at 425. Only 503 Daytona’s were built, and only 70 of them had the Hemi under the hood; all other cars featured the 440 Magnum V8.
