Originally introduced in 1967 as the Belvedere GTX, this was Plymouth’s rendition of what a “gentleman’s” muscle car would look like. The main engine option was the “Super Commando 440” which was a 440 cubic inch V8 that utilized a four barrel carburetor which was rated at an estimated 375hp. However you did have options, the 440 “six-pack” featured a total of three tow-barrel carbs that supposedly added just 10hp, but many thought it was more powerful than that. Now if you wanted the big guns, you opted for the 426 Hemi which was rated at 425hp, but according to most gearheads, it was actually closer to 500hp. You will see the 426 engine as an option on a great majority of the cars on this list.
