14. The Magic Kingdom Is a No-Fly Zone

After the events of 9/11, Disney had to change several things about their park. They even had to evacuate their park on that day because authorities were afraid it would be the next big target. Due to the size of Cinderella’s Castle, the government worked with Disney to rule the whole park a no-fly zone for the safety of everyone there.

It’s no secret that Florida is the lightning capital of the United States. Nearly every summer day, it storms for at least thirty minutes. The park’s prepared, though. They placed a variety of lightning rods throughout the park to ensure everyone’s safety. The biggest one rests on top of Cinderella’s Castle. Other lightning rods include the Epcot Ball and the Sorcerer’s Hat that used to be part of Hollywood Studios.
