25 Incredible Facts About the Magic Kingdom

24. The Moat Is Huge

The Moat surrounding Cinderella’s Castle is absolutely enormous. In case of a fan-siege, it’s the castle’s best defense. It contains an unfathomable 3.37 million gallons of water. That’s enough to fill over five Olympic swimming pools! In 2014, Magic Kingdom had to drain all that water from the moats to redesign the main Hub area in the middle of the park. Thankfully construction is finished, and the moat has been re-filled and restored back to its former glory. I wouldn’t want to fall in!

25. The Murals Took 22 Months to Complete

It took Imagineer Dorothea Redmond 22 months to finish the five-pane mural set inside Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. Incredibly talented artists built each pane out of 300,000 pieces of expensive Italian glass. Some say the murals are some of the most spectacular parts of any Disney park.
