2. Dry States
The 21st Amendment didn’t force states to legalize alcohol. They could decide state by state if they wished to remain dry. The state of Mississippi remained booze-free until 1966. Kansas didn’t allow the opening of public bars until Ronald Reagan was in office, 1987. Even today, many states keep laws on the books attempting to control alcohol, either preventing sales in grocery stores or on certain days of the week. Sunday is a popular no-sales day, but as time goes on these restrictions seem sillier and sillier.
