4. New Terminology

To talk about illegal substances, dealers and buyers adopt secret languages. Booze was no exception. Tarantula juice, monkey rum, horse liniment, coffin varnish, rotgut, hooch, giggle water and white mule all existed as terms to disguise talk about booze. A few slides back the striped pig came up, but there were also blind pigs, blind tigers, and juice joints. If one didn’t drink, he was a dry or a teetotaler. A drinker was a wet or a boozehound. Whales drank more than their fair share of liquor.
