6. The Krazy Kat Klub
Another speakeasy with a well-known reputation was the Krazy Kat Klub in Washington D.C. It was the Bohemian destination for drinking if one was an artist. To get in, patrons entered through an alleyway door, which was normal for a speakeasy, but this one had a sign which read: All soap abandon ye who enter here. The Klub had a regular following of “self-styled artists, poets, and actors,” according to the Washington Post, “and some who worked for the government by day and masqueraded as Bohemians by night.”
