These 25 Celebrities Served Their Country Before Becoming Famous

Fred Durst

Fans know him as the front man of Limp Bizkit. Yes, he can rock out and he knows how to tattoo, but did you know Durst once served in the U.S. Navy? Durst’s time in the service was short-lived, eighteen months. He broke his hand skateboarding, which prompted his medical discharge. It must have been during one of those Navy skateboarding missions we always hear about.

Jimmy Stewart

Yes, he’s the guy from the Christmas Movie It’s a Wonderful Life. There’s a famous scene in that movie where Stewart breaks down crying in a church. The tears were real. When they filmed that scene, Stewart had recently returned from a successful tour during World War II. He flew 20 combat missions during World War II, retiring in May 1968.
