20. Sir Patrick Stewart; Captain Jean-Luc Picard; TNG
Patrick Stewart has remained a public figure post-show like George Takei, but Stewart has played other roles since The Next Generation ended. That said, Trekkies will always see him as Captain Picard. Stewart came up in the venerable school of classically-trained British Shakespearean actors. His most recent big role was Charles in the X-Men movies. As a figure in pop culture, though, Stewart enjoys a large social media following. One should never find it surprising to see him make the rounds in a viral image or video.
19. Jonathan Frakes; William T. Riker, TNG
The role of Williams Riker might have been another actor as Frakes struggled to land the role. It took six weeks and seven auditions, but in the end, it was his. He would spend countless hours talking to Roddenberry about the nuances of William Riker, trying to develop a three-dimensional character. Frakes may have done too good of a job. After The Next Generation ended, he struggled to land other parts, but stayed busy in series work, reprising Riker in Star Trek movies.
