25 Cast Members from Star Trek: Then and Now

6. Robert Beltran; Chakotay, VOY

In the spirit and tradition of the original series, Robert Beltran played the first Native American first officer aboard the USS Voyager. In honor of his character’s father, Chakotay wore a tattoo on his forehead, the first one on the bridge of a Starfleet ship in the canon as far as audiences knew. Robert Beltran continued to act after Voyager went off the air in 2001, but like other Star Trek cast members, he’s struggled to stay consistently active in Hollywood. Don’t worry, though. Beltran stays busy, acting on the stage, speaking, and supporting the National Down Syndrome Society.
