16. Sofia Coppola
Coppola has been working as an actress since the early 70’s, but has since made a name for herself as a successful director. Her work on ‘Lost in Translation’ earned her three Academy Award nominations, and a win for ‘Best Original Screenplay.’ While she was cutting her teeth as a director she had the sense to star in one of the biggest franchises, playing Saché, a handmaiden to the queen. The same year was also her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed ‘The Virgin Suicides.’ Success struck and she hasn’t gone back to acting since, the force is strong with this one.
