8. Charlie Cox
Before landing his role as Daredevil in Netflix recent series by the same name, Charlie Cox did not ever have a gym membership. The first season, Cox worked mostly at gaining weight and eating right, but also training. There was a lot of fighting right away, and while they used a stunt double, Cox tried to do as much as he could. He trained three-six days per week, eating like a saint. He’s not saying how much he gained, but there’s no denying Cox transformed his body for the series.
7. Thomas Haden-Church
When audiences first fell in love with Haden-Church, it was in the short-lived TV comedy series, Wings. He played Lowell Mather, an otherwise slow-burn comic relief character. Haden-Church maintained a career as a working actor, not changing his physique much until he landed Spiderman III as the Sandman. For that role he gained 28 pounds of lean mass and lost 10 pounds of fat, all by lifting weights and eating right. For Haden-Church, gaining making this sort of transformation in his forties was, in his own words, “no bake sale.”
