19 Actors Who Made Insane Physical Transformations For Their Movie Roles

10. Aaron Taylor-Johnson

When Taylor-Johnson landed Kick-Ass in 2010, he’d been playing mostly in TV roles, but nothing stood out. His role in Kick-Ass was a superhero, but there was no transformation required. The character of Kick-Ass was an everyman-cum-hero sort. Then, director Joss Whedon decided to give him a shot at a more traditional superhero role as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He was 175 pounds in the second Kick-Ass movie, which was up from the first, but then he gained another 15 pounds by the time he was in Godzilla. Avengers hit screens between those two films.

9. Paul Rudd

To get in shape for Ant Man, Paul Rudd dropped alcohol and carbs. He called it the Chris Pratt regimen, a nod the Pratt’s transformation for Guardians of the Galaxy. Prior to Ant Man, audiences knew Rudd for everyman comedy roles like the one he played in “This is 40.” The day Rudd landed the role, he hit the gym. Prior to Ant Man, he’d never worked out for an extended period of time. Although Rudd had been out of shape for some movies, he wasn’t necessarily overweight. The changes he made were more about where he wore his weight. He turned into an athlete for Ant Man.
