On May 11th, 1947 the very first car to bear the Ferrari name was debuted at the Piacenza racing circuit located in northern Italy. The 125 S, or Sport, featured a small 1.5L V12 that produced 118bhp which isn’t very much, but the car did only weigh 1,400lbs. It was built for one reason, to help fund the race team, Scuderia Ferrari, that had been started back in 1929 by Enzo Ferrari.
